The Feeling Is Right

The Feeling Is Right hovers between deep house, nudisco and french touch vibes. Opening track The Sample I Know has that feel good vibe from the very first second, and uses a very catchy base sample (no surprise if you see that title). But, do you know the sample used 🙂 ?
Fast forward to La Mangrove, catchy looped up lyrics that aren’t too heavy above some 80s inspired synth sounds and simple house beat. Dawei, the final track of the EP goes deeper then the first two. Superb bass line, female vocals and a sound close to an M1 organ make up the meat of this track. Sounds like that mid 90s US deep house.

Jzz Bnd is a sampling gem

Jzz Bnd holds what it says on the tin. Jazzy sample heavy groovers, even at slower paced 115BPM for Jzz 1. While unnoticeable when played, it seriously grooves so hard and funky you’d reckon you’re listening to a 123BPM track. Fantastic vibe. Jzz 2 is more laid back, a smokey basement style track with guitars and piano leading the way. All in all, an impressive release by an artist that keeps racking them up on a multitude of underground labels.

Maoree’s label debut

When we received Maoree’s demos we had access to a playlist with over 10 tracks. Usually this kinda gives us more work, but also a good understanding of what the artist sounds like. A little much maybe, as the preferred number of tracks for demos is usually 5 or less, but we went ahead and pressed play.

We selected 3 and proposed to do a Bandcamp Exclusive release only. Reason being to not stress our release planning that’s pretty maxed out. A couple of mails went back and forth while we kept listening to the selections we made, and in the end decided to just go for a full release everywhere, on all stores and streaming portals.

LA Disco according to Lux Experience

When you play out the tracks on Lux Experience ‘LA Disco’ for a crowd or just at home you’ll see that they have immediate effect. You’re sucked into the disco groove of the EP title track right away, and when the vibes solo hit… deep house heaven. ‘Feel So Crazy’ is more playful and quite happy in terms of sound. Again a vibes solo enters the track halfway that runs close to the end of the track. Really hot music from a Norwegian viking I can call a friend. Some of you might know him via his other moniker Addvibe or his label Vier. If not, please do check it out. He stands for good music. Tip!

New single ‘The Bee’s Knees’ by Igor Gonya & Tamandua Twist.

We’ve said it before that we love collabs. And another one has found it’s way to our email inbox. This time it Igor Gonya & Tamandua Twist that join their efforts to create ‘The Bee’s Knees. Not in the form of an EP, but a single with 2 alternate mixes (or remixes). The original mix is a groovin and funky workout of 6 minutes, Tamandua Twist then reworks it into an acid tinged house track and finally Platzdasch drives it home with a smoother, atmospheric NuDisco remix. A super varied musical package for your ears and dj sets.

Brooklynite Slug Father releases Time With You EP

Hailing from Brooklyn, Slug Father’s tracks were first introduced to us by a mutual friend. We were really impressed when we listened to ‘Time With You’. It utilizes a classic Hiroshi Suzuki sample to great effect. Creating a lovely lo-slung deep house groover alongside some dynamite vocal sampling. Slug Father melts the two aspects of this track together for a gorgeous end result. Skip to the second track on this EP and we find ‘Gonna Sing Ma Song’. Again a sample heavy cut, this time from Roy Ayers. We’d say this is a perfect more uptempo NuDisco track but can work just as well in a deephouse set, club or terrace.

Richard Earnshaw has dedicated his life to producing top quality Music. His collaborative works have found themselves in many Global Charts and are included in some of the worlds most influential compilations and album releases from the world’s most influential Record Labels and Artists. His sound is a benchmark in professional production and his music is respected by music creators and music lovers alike. Richard also goes under the alias spiritchaser and if you’re a fan of one51 guess what that’s also Richard too. February 2018 meant that Richards label duffnote recordings turned 15 years old and have released 179 releases to date, so congratulations are in order and we salute you for your sustainability within the music scene.

Now this Label is called Gents & Dandy’s, I’m really enjoying their output at the moment. Some really wonderful music on that label…

Cleanfield is a Dj/producer from Arnhem in the Netherlands and this is his second release with Gents & Dandy’s. He describes his sound stating he belongs to a new generation of producers synthesizing the Detroit tradition and Neo-soul sounds into novel electronic gems. Trust us when we say  Cleanfield is one to watch for the future.
